Federer toppled by Novak

13 April 2012

Wimbledon champion Roger Federer was beaten 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 by Czech Jiri Novak in the Swiss Open final in Gstaad yesterday.

Federer was aiming for his sixth title of the year and his third in a row, but he has never won his national title, whereas Novak won the tournament back in 2001.

Despite the defeat Federer maintained his lead in the 2003 ATP Champions Race and is enjoying an ATP best win-loss record of 53-10.
