Federer to face Nalbandian in final

12 April 2012

World number one Roger Federer will defend his Madrid Masters title against surprise package David Nalbandian in Sunday's final.

Federer eased past Nicolas Kiefer 6-4 6-4 in the second semi-final, while earlier in the day Nalbandian continued his superb form in the Spanish capital by dumping out third seed Novak Djokovic.

Nalbandian, the 2004 runner-up, reached his first ATP final since May 2006 with a 6-4 7-6 (7/4) victory over Serbian Djokovic.
