Usain Bolt, 29, says his supercars — he once owned a dozen — have been his most extravagant purchases.

Among them is his gold Nissan GT-R, which has a Bose sound system and is estimated to be worth about £120,000. Bolt said: “I’ve sold most of them now but I had 12 once. My favourite is my gold Nissan GT-R with white interior. It’s crazy good.”

In a quick-fire interview as he counts down to the Rio Games in August, the six-time Olympic gold medal winner also revealed that he has a recurring dream in which he is running for his life.

In it, he says: “Someone is chasing me with a gun. No matter how hard I run, I could not get away. I never got shot or anything.”

When he wakes up, he says, the first thing he does is make the sign of the cross, followed by “giving thanks for the day then checking my phone”.

The Jamaican superstar says he cannot live without Instagram and Snapchat. But aside from using the two apps, he said, “the only thing I do [on my phone] is play dominoes”.

Bolt is working towards his target of an unprecedented Olympic “three-peat” this summer by winning the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay for the third Games in a row, having done so at Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012. He also aims to crown his legacy by running the first sub-19-second 200m.

Asked what he would have done if he had not been an athlete, he said: “I was always going to be an athlete. But if they didn’t turn me into a track star I would have been a cricketer.”

In the interview, with Mr Porter magazine, he reveals the person who managed the best impression of his signature “lightning bolt” pose was Barack Obama — and that his style icon is Kanye West because “he never overdoes it”.
