Family strife for Taylor

12 April 2012

Ryan Taylor has a family matter to deal with as Wigan prepare to face Everton at the JJB Stadium on Monday night.

The Liverpool-born full-back is intent on getting on the wrong side of his mum, who has her own agenda.

Taylor explained: "She is an Evertonian but I am sure she will be rooting for me."

He added: "I have lots of friends and family coming from the area, so it is a big game for everyone and the club."

Taylor is hoping to retain his place in the side after scoring in the 2-2 draw against Newcastle.

He told the club's official website, www.wiganlatic.co.uk: "To start was really pleasing - to score was even better. It will be a good atmosphere against Everton and good to get the nod again."

Wigan have taken only five points out of a possible 18 on their own patch and that situation is something Taylor is keen to rectify.

"We have got to win our home games because they are the most important ones," he said.

"However, Everton are in good form and it will be tough as they always give us a good game."
