EXCLUSIVE: Wigan vow to rebuff Spurs' £10m pursuit of Emile Heskey

have vowed to repel Tottenham's efforts to sign Emile Heskey for £10million.

have turned their attentions towards the England striker in a bid to find a like-for-like replacement for wantaway striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Berbatov is widely expected to join Manchester United for about £30million and Spurs boss Juande Ramos is keen to replace him with a 6ft-plus centre forward.

With Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz agreeing a new four-year deal at Ewood Park, Ramos is believed to have turned his attentions to Heskey - according to Sunday newspaper reports.

A source at the JJB Stadium has, however, confirmed to Sportsmail that Athletic would rebuff any approach for their talisman.

The source added that Wigan's Barclays Premier League survival would hinge on Heskey remaining part of Steve Bruce's squad and that Wigan simply could not afford to lose their man.
