Everton manager Moyes faces battle with Boro to sign £1m-rated Bosnia striker Misimovic

13 April 2012

Everton boss David Moyes and his Middlesbrough counterpart, Gareth Southgate, are set to battle it out for the signature of Nuremberg's Bosnia striker Zvejdan Misimovic.

The £1million-rated 25-year-old has managed to score goals in a struggling team that is set to be relegated.

Misimovic, who began his career at Bayern Munich, has been capped 32 times by his country.

Now Everton - working within a sensible budget but keen to recruit - are set to move in, according to the Daily Mirror.

Misimovic could be an ideal replacement for the injured Tim Cahill and could fill other roles in the squad.

His price tag and wages will not scare Everton - though Boro may yet beat them to the signature. Southgate is also watching Misimovic and could swoop as he fits the bill for his club and system, too.
