England facing defeat

England were in a perilous position as they looked to avoid a first international defeat to Bangladesh in their NatWest Series clash in Bristol.

England were odds on fro a 21st victory out of 21 when they restricted Bangladesh to 236 for seven but after 27 overs the hosts were 117 for five, with Ian Bell suffering from a broken metatarsal and unlikely to bat before number 11, if at all.

Jonathan Trott (33no) appeared to hold the key for England, if they were to save the match.

Andrew Strauss again got off t a swift start but as soon as Rubel Hossain entered the attack things changed. The paceman banged one in short to have Strauss caught behind for 33 and three balls later found Craig Kieswetter's edge with a fuller swinging ball for 20.

Paul Collingwood was given lbw to Abdur Razzak off an inside edge for 10 and Razzak was again successful when he rapped Eoin Morgan (1) on the pads with the first ball of his next over, Asad Rauf correct to raise his finger this time.

Michael Yardy also failed, making 10 in 24 balls before aiming an ugly swipe at Shakib Al Hasan and losing middle stump.

Having been asked to bat first, Bangladesh suffered a significant blow in the sixth over when danger man Tamim Iqbal edged Ajmal Shahzad to wicketkeeper Kieswetter.

Junaid Siddique (21) was second out when he brushed Stuart Broad to Kieswetter down the leg side.

Imrul Kayes dashed a single to bring up his fourth ODI fifty in 74 balls and Jahurul Islam (40) looked set to follow suit until the returning Shahzad provided Kieswetter with a second catch.

Shakib followed three balls later, bowled by Collingwood after misjudging an ugly paddle. Mohammad Ashraful was run out for 14 to make it 179 for five but any hopes of rapid acceleration were ended when Shahzad dismissed Kayes for 76.
