England captain Jos Buttler rued a missed opportunity to seal the series after a 34-run loss to Bangladesh in the second one-day international in Dhaka.

The hosts could only post 238 for eight on a decent batting pitch but England failed to recover from slipping to 26 for four inside 10 overs and were bowled out for 204 in reply.

A win for the tourists would have given them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and Buttler, who struck 57, knows that his side should have capitalised on a modest victory target.

He told Sky Sports: "(It was) very chaseable. I thought it was a good wicket and I thought we bowled fantastically well up front again, early wickets and potentially could have bowled them out for 190. Mashrafe (Mortaza) played a good innings there but 240 was very attainable.

"What disappoints me the most is that we were a bit tentative in the way we went about it and I think that is something we don't want to be as a side, I want us to come out there on the front foot and really take it on.

"It's just a blip I think, 240 is one of those targets you could go about and chase in 49 overs or win it in 42 and personally I would want to win it in 42, I would rather be 60 for three after 10 overs than 20 for three, and that's what we want to be about as a team and attack.

"We bowled fantastically well in the first game and backed it up, with only a day in between, really well. It was a very good bowling performance.

"It's been tough, we had high hopes of winning this game and going two-nil up in the series but the conditions have been tough and the guys have stuck at it really well and I'm proud of the guys for that."

Bangladesh captain and man-of-the-match Mashrafe Mortaza praised his team's bowling performance after successfully defending the modest total of 239 to force the series into a decider.

He told Sky Sports: "Congratulations to the boys, it wasn't much of a total you can defend but I think the bowling was exceptional.

"I am very happy to be man-of-the-match and be on the winning side. It was a really professional match.

"Once I saw the wicket wasn't creating much, I just tried to play my natural shots that I love to and I was lucky enough that ball the ball was hitting right areas of my bat. Luckily I helped the team, obviously I am more happy that I got some wickets for the team.

"But 240 is a difficult task if you can take enough wickets. Mahmudullah is playing really, really good for us for the last one and a half years and Nasir (Hossain) was very unlucky (not to play the first match) but he showed his stripes today and played really well for the team."
