England burst rocks hosts

England took three quick wickets in defence of a vulnerable 225 all out in today's World Cup Group B match with Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Tamim Iqbal, the scourge of England attacks at home and abroad last year, set about them again under lights but was gone by the time his team stuttered to 75 for three after 15 overs.

Jonathan Trott (67) top-scored with his fourth half-century in five innings as he and Eoin Morgan (63) shared a stand of 109 to help provide England with a competitive if far from insurmountable total on an awkward pitch.

They lost their first three wickets for the addition of 21 runs, and then the last six went for 61 in the final 10 overs.

Bangladesh's spinners accounted for 33 overs and seven wickets - and England, left with much work still to do to close out a quarter-final place, could call on only Graeme Swann to respond in kind.

It was Tim Bresnan, though, who got rid of the dangerous Tamim - bowled off his pads with a length delivery which slipped through his back-foot defence.

Then after James Anderson's direct hit ran out Junaid Siddique and Ajmal Shahzad produced a very good delivery to bowl Roqibul Hasan for a duck, England were favourites again. Victory here would confirm their presence in the last eight, with a match to spare, and put the hosts in grave danger of also-ran status.
