England A blasted out

14 April 2012

England A were given a serious reality check in Colombo today as they were skittled out for 79 by Pakistan. Both sides have already beaten hosts Sri Lanka in the triangular cricket tournament but there looked to be only one winner in game three as England's innings came to a shuddering halt after only 23.4 overs.

After reaching 30 without loss, the England's innings crumbled, with only three players reaching double figures. Vikram Solanki top scored with 15, opening partner Matthew Prior made 14 and skipper Ian Bell scored 11. Four batsmen were out for ducks.

Pakistan's 23-year-old mediumpacer Yasir Arafat finished with figures of six for 24, and six of the runs he conceded were either noballs or wides. Riaz Afridi took three for 40. A mid-innings collapse saw five wickets fall for two runs as England slumped from 63 for three to 65 for eight.
