Elton's £1.3m boost for Boothroyd

Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd could receive a £1.3million boost after Sir Elton John demanded money from his fund-raising concert be spent on players.

Saturday's concert, in front of 23,000 fans, was originally intended to fund the £7.6m repurchase of Vicarage Road but the singer and former club chairman, said: "We've raised £1.3m. I want that to be spent on players."

This could put pressure on the Watford board, who would not want to disregard Sir Elton's, especially after he promised to perform another concert in 2007.
