Elsworth ruled out for season

Frustration: Dominic Elsworth, on board One Gulp, has made slow progress from a head injury

Dominic Elsworth will not ride again this season due to the head injury he received in a fall nearly six months ago.

The 29-year-old jump jockey was badly concussed when falling from Keepitsecret at Ffos Las on 28 August. The injury is not thought to be career-threatening, according to trainer Oliver Sherwood, for whom he rides, but rehabilitation has not been as swift as hoped.

"Dominic is resigned to the fact he's not going to be back this season and he's making slow progress," said Sherwood. "The main thing is for him to get better. Dominic had hoped to be back before the New Year but he'll return when he's ready. He hasn't set a time limit on things."

The news comes on the back of a miserable year for Elsworth, who suffered a shoulder injury last March and lost the Grand National ride on the Charles Egerton-trained Darkness.

Meanwhile, Kieren Fallon has handed the plum ride on Dubai World Cup contender Presvis to Ryan Moore, following the six-year-old's defeat in a three-runner race at Meydan last week.

Trainer Luca Cumani said: "Kieren suggested he doesn't have a good rapport with the horse and that I should let Ryan sit on him. He knows the horse well."
