Dylan Thomas hit by ban in Japan

Arc winner Dylan Thomas, recently voted Cartier Horse of the Year, has been denied his chance to run in the Japan Cup on Sunday.

The Japanese authorities have ruled that his vaccination for EVA (equine viral arthritis), conducted by vets at Monmouth Park, New Jersey, in advance of last month's Breeders' Cup, disqualifies him from running in their premier race, for which he was 7-2 second favourite.

EVA is administered to stallions prior to their stud careers and a shocked Aidan O'Brien claimed that other Ballydoyle inmates have run in Japan with the vaccination.
