Drug D-Day for Young

13 April 2012

World 400metres champion Jerome Young will learn today whether the Court of Arbitration for Sport have found him guilty of a doping offence in 1999.

Young tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone but was cleared by the American Federation, USA Track & Field, to compete at the 2000 Olympics.

If the CAS decide he should not have been exonerated Young and his US team-mates in the 4x400m relay squad, including five times Olympic champion Michael Johnson, could lose their gold medals.

World 100m record holder Tim Montgomery will go before the CAS to contest a possible lifetime ban for taking banned substances. His legal team today informed the US Anti-Doping Agency of their decision to appeal.
