Dowie: We will fight to the end

Iain Dowie says his Crystal Palace team will not be affected by their Premiership disappointments.

They go into next weekend's key match with fellow relegation strugglers West Brom in bottom place after Saturday's disappointing 1-0 defeat at Bolton.

The optimism generated by their first league win against Fulham two weeks ago has largely been forgotten, but Dowie claims his team are still buoyant.

Manager Dowie said: "I believe we are developing and improving as a club and we are not battered and bruised. We have not been turned over by anyone and we will be in it to the bitter end, no matter what.

"This team will not go down through a lack of guts and effort.

"Bolton are an aspiring top-six side and they didn't carve us apart. The result was possibly a bit harsh on us and it was very frustrating. I thought we were sloppy in key areas."

Kevin Davies scored the goal for Bolton on the stroke of half-time. Danny Granville came closest for Palace when he hit the bar.

Meanwhile, Palace midfielder Tommy Black has returned to the club after cutting short his loan spell at Sheffield United. It has been reported he made the decision after hearing he was only going to be a substitute for Sheffield's match at Gillingham yesterday.
