Dowie not giving up Carrick chase

Crystal Palace have not given up hope of signing Michael Carrick from West Ham.

Iain Dowie is still keen on the midfielder despite being told the 23-year-old is not interested in a move to Selhurst Park. The Palace boss said: "We'd still like to offer Michael Premiership football. If he wants to come I'd be delighted to chat with him."

Dowie is set to sign striker Ivan Kaviedes on a season-long loan from Barcelona de Guayaquil and is optimistic he can agree a fee with West Brom for Neil Clement.
