Derby day is no chore for Adebayor

James Olley13 April 2012

Emmanuel Adebayor today vowed to heap more misery on Tottenham and fire Arsenal to victory in Sunday's north London derby at White Hart Lane.

The Togo striker has not been at his free-scoring best this season but has netted eight goals in his last seven games against the Gunners' fiercest rivals.

When reminded of his record against Harry Redknapp's side, the 25-year-old said: "I hope that will be the same on Sunday.

"Spurs is always a great occasion - nobody has to motivate you, this comes on its own simply because we are playing Spurs.

"So I hope to do something good and that we can take the three points. It is always great to do that against Spurs, especially for our fans."

Adebayor has failed to hit the heights of last season, when he scored 30 goals in all competitions, and admits: "I am not happy with my form because I am a striker and I've only scored 12 goals up to now. I know I've missed some chances and need to do a bit more, but that's football - there is no player who scores ten times out of ten, not even Pele.

"So for me the most important thing is to keep believing."
