Davies close to Spurs recall

14 April 2012

Simon Davies may be back in the Tottenham squad after surgery this weekend - provided he proves he can take a knock.

Wales winger Davies has been out all season after a shin operation and was unavailable for his country's opening two World Cup qualifiers in England's group this week.

But Spurs' chief medical officer Charlotte Cowie revealed: "He is close to a comeback and we would hope to see him on the bench, at least, against Norwich on Sunday.

"It all depends a bit on bringing contact work back into his training. He's fit again and training with the others but ordered to have no contact in the damaged area.

"That's why he wasn't considered fit to report for Wales this week, but he's very nearly there."
