David Haye: I want to unleash concussive blows

England expects: David Haye will wear the new Umbro England football team away shirt into the ring in Hamburg tomorrow night

By the time you read this I will have weighed in ahead of my unification title clash with Wladimir Klitschko and will be relaxing back at my hotel doing my level best to delay - at least for the time being - some very nasty thoughts.

My head will be switching on to the fight, although not to the extent that it will be 24 hours later on fight night. I will be relieved that the time for talking has ended and that now, after three years in the making, I have finally cornered my man and forced him into a confrontation he has never wanted any part of.

As for the weigh-in itself, I didn't expect any great revelation or insight from Klitschko, despite the fact I am used to sensing weaknesses and fear in my opponent during the stare-down that follows the trip to the scales.

I remember my last opponent, Audley Harrison, crumbling mentally there and then. He had a look in his eyes that said, 'I'm sorry, David, I shouldn't be here'. I picked up on those vibes instantly and realised I more than had his number.

Klitschko has been a different story all together. He is used to spending time around me, and he knows how to keep his cool, at least on the surface. He is also vastly experienced in these types of situations.

Of course, had Klitschko suddenly broken down and revealed all his insecurities, I'd have been more than happy to pick up any tell-tell signs. I just wasn't banking on it, that's all.

What I am banking on tomorrow night is an overwhelming sense of destiny, as well as the confidence that comes from realising I am in the greatest physical and mental shape of my boxing career.

I have never been lighter, fitter or more skilled as a heavyweight. Additionally, I have never been more focused or motivated for a fight. I know what's at stake and know all about the challenge at hand.

As a result, I have made that extra effort to ensure I am in the required shape to box the kind of game-plan I need to execute on the night.

Having completed final technical training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday of this week, I couldn't be more prepared. I found myself operating at only 30 per cent in those particular sessions, simply out of fear of doing too much and peaking at the wrong time.

I was holding back at all times, and that was hard. I am now at the point where I just want to unleash concussive blows towards the head of my opponent. That is all I think about doing when I go to sleep at night and it's all I think about when I wake up in the morning.

A final word of thanks must go to the British contingent who have made their way over to Hamburg to support me. I met a few of these fans while walking through Hamburg on Thursday and it really did give me a boost to know they are out in force.

I now can't go anywhere without being stopped by either British or German fans, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The only way I can repay these supporters is to bring the world heavyweight titles home on Sunday afternoon. Mark my words, that is exactly what I will be doing.

I'd also like to send one last good luck message to my friend Andy Murray. Hopefully, our victories this weekend, his at Wimbledon and mine in Hamburg, will complete a memorable double for British sport. Rule Britannia!
