Davenport beats Mauresmo again

Lindsay Davenport clinched her fifth successive Pilot Pen victory over top seed Amelie Mauresmo in New Haven on Thursday.

The seventh-seeded American, who has missed much of the season with back problems and a concussion, moved into the semi-finals with a 6-4 7-5 win over the French star.

Davenport will next face Samantha Stosur after the Australian lucky loser defeated Marion Bartoli of France 7-6 (7-2) 6-0.

In the bottom half of the draw, second seed Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium outclassed Italian lucky loser Mara Santangelo 6-2 6-3.

The two-time French Open champion's next opponent is fifth-seeded Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, who defeated third-seeded countrywoman Elena Dementieva 6-3 3-6 6-2.
