Sir Bradley Wiggins has drawn an awed response from sportsmen in cycling and beyond after smashing the UCI Hour Record.
It was a dominant display from the 35-year-old as he cycled an official distance of 54.526 km in 60 minutes, over a kilometre further than the previous record.
Wiggins was cheered on by a sold-out crowd at the Velodrome in the Olympic Park and the reception to his record-breaking performance was equally massive online. His record here adds to an impressive collection of a Tour de France title, four Olympic gold medals and world time-trial crown, marking him out as one of Britain's greatest sportsmen.
The achievement got sports stars from cycling and beyond celebrating a British sporting icon.
