Your bowling tactics were all wrong in Perth, claims Ryan Harris

On the front foot: Ryan Harris says Australia are now the favourites to win the Ashes

Ryan Harris today cast doubt on England's bowling tactics in Perth and claimed the Aussies are now favourites to win the Ashes.

Australia's 267-run triumph leaves the sides level at 1-1 approaching the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

After England's victory by an innings in Adelaide, the series was turned around spectacularly over three-and-a-half days in Western Australia.

Mitchell Johnson did the damage with the ball by taking six English wickets in the first innings, before Harris finished the job when England batted again.

He finished with six for 47, justifying the Aussie selectors' decision to go with a four-man pace attack.

Harris is convinced Australia are now in the driving seat, even though they need to win one of the final two Tests and avoid defeat in the other to regain the Ashes.

He said: "We've now got an edge over them going into a big Test. They struggled in Perth. They came off two Test matches in Brisbane and Adelaide where they made a lot of runs to this [two scores of below 200 in Perth].

"You're only one or two balls away from a bit of doubt in your mind as a batter. We crushed them pretty well at the WACA after being crushed in Adelaide."

Although England's pace trio of Jimmy Anderson, Chris Tremlett and Steve Finn shared 17 wickets and bowled Australia out for 268 in the first innings and 309 in the second, Harris felt the England quicks got it wrong in Perth.

Harris said: "It's hard for them because they're probably not used to wickets like the WACA. They have Tremlett who gets that bounce but the fuller he bowled, the more success he got.

"It's very easy to get carried away when you're playing on a wicket like that. You think you can bounce people out but our batters are used to that because they've been playing Sheffield Shield cricket there every second week.

"If anything, they probably bowled a fraction short."

The Aussies have named an unchanged squad for the Fourth Test, with captain Ricky Ponting given every opportunity to prove his fitness after suffering a fracture to the little finger of his left hand.
