Stuart Broad became the 15th Englishman to take 200 Test wickets today against Australia at Emirates Old Trafford.

Broad joined team-mates James Anderson and Graeme Swann in reaching the landmark when he ended Michael Clarke's long innings just shy of a double century.

Broad got a short ball to seam back at Clarke, who could only squeeze it down into his stumps after reaching 187.

It was the fifth time Broad has dismissed Clarke in his 60-Test career.

Only three other batsmen have fallen to him more times in the five-day game - with South African AB de Villiers' seven dismissals the most of any batsman.

Broad had to wait until his 31st over of the innings to bring up his milestone, after coming into the Test needing just one more wicket to reach it.

It might have come sooner but for England wasting their reviews on two marginal calls against Steven Smith yesterday, only for Broad to then see a plumb lbw call against the right-hander dismissed by umpire Tony Hill.

After beginning his Test career against Sri Lanka in 2007, Broad's career has been highlighted by a hat-trick against India on his home ground, Trent Bridge, two summer's ago.

That helped England to a 4-0 series whitewash that sent them to the top of the International Cricket Council's Test rankings.

Broad claimed his career-best figures of seven for 44 earlier this summer against New Zealand at Lord's.
