Essex head coach Paul Grayson: We can still go up

Essex head coach Paul Grayson has not given up on promotion and is hoping that Middlesex come unstuck in today's top-of-the table clash with Northamptonshire.

Essex host Derbyshire today, fifth in Division Two of the County Championship, 27 points behind second-placed Middlesex, who have a game in hand, and 49 adrift of the league leaders.

Grayson said: "We are aware that if we win all three of our remaining matches, then we might have a chance of promotion, particularly if Middlesex slip up. We are playing some good cricket at the moment so we're looking forward to a tough four days against Derbyshire."
