Australia's Pat Cummins warns Champions Trophy rivals he is up to speed

Pat Cummins believes he has never been in better shape as Australia prepare their assault on the Champions Trophy.

England captain Eoin Morgan has Australia joint favourite for the tournament — along with holders India — and the quality of their attack is central to his thinking.

Cummins’ career has been badly affected by injuries but, at last, the 24-year-old paceman is confident his body can stand the strain.

“In the past couple of years, playing ODIs has been such a jump in intensity, so it always took a couple of days to get over it,” he said.

“There are so many games, so sometimes you don’t get that rest in between.

“I now feel that because I’m a couple of years older, and because I had a full off-season at pretty low intensity, my body was a bit more hardened than it used to be when I did come back.”
