Aussie chiefs get Lillee after Warne attack

Cricket Australia today appointed fast bowling great Dennis Lillee as an advisor, after they were slammed by Shane Warne yesterday.

Former Aussie spin king Warne branded the country’s cricket chiefs “muppets” and said that people who played the sport should be running it. This was seen as an attack on former Wallaby rugby star Pat Howard, who is the CA’s high-performance chief.

Today, though, CA have gone for Lillee, who won 70 Test caps, and he will support Australia’s emerging fast bowlers as well as the national side.

CA said: “Lillee will be available face-to‑face and on mobile to the squad but won’t travel extensively abroad with the national team.”
