Ashes 2019 leading run scorers: Top batsmen standings for England vs Australia Test series

Some of the world’s finest batsmen will be on show when England host Australia in the 71st Ashes Series this summer.

The all-time Ashes run-scoring charts read like a who’s who of some of cricket’s most legendary names, from Don Bradman and Jack Hobbs, to more recent stars like Alastair Cook and Ricky Ponting.

The race to be crowned this series’ top scorer looks an intriguing one, with a mixture of seasoned Test performers and newer talent with limited experience in the longer format on the international stage.

England will be led by Joe Root, widely considered to be one of the best batsmen on the planet, while the likes of Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are proven match-winners.

At the top of the order, Rory Burns will be looking to convert his years of consistent scoring in county cricket to the international scene, while star of England’s ODI World Cup win Jason Roy has been given his chance shine.

The Australian challenge is headlined by former captain Steve Smith, who scored a ridiculous 687 runs in the last series. He, along with David Warner, is back from suspension after the ball-tampering scandal of 2018.
