Middlesex v Kent
Openers Mike Carberry and David Fulton both perished at Southgate today as Kent struggled in reply to Middlesex's 351 all out.
Simon Cook did the damage for the hosts, with Carberry caught by Owais Shah for a duck and Fulton snared by wicketkeeper David Nash for eight with the total on 17.
That left England outcast Ed Smith (41 not out) and former Australia star Michael Bevan to steady the ship as the visitors past 50 without further loss.

Surrey lost early wickets when they batted first against fellow strugglers Northampton at the County Ground today.
Makeshift opener Rikki Clarke fell for nine to Carl Greenidge. Then spinner Jason Brown took two wickets in four balls to see off Scott Newman (28) and James Benning (2), leaving Mark Ramprakash unbeaten on 17.

Ronnie Irani piled on the runs at Southend against Nottinghamshire.
The all-rounder raced from 59 overnight to 122 not out in a last-wicket partnership of 105 with Scott Brant, who was finally out for 19.
