County championship round-up

13 April 2012

A stubborn last-wicket stand frustrated Surrey this morning before they finally wrapped up the Warwickshire innings on the second day of their Frizzell County Championship clash at Edgbaston.

The home side, resuming on 300 for 9, added another 45 runs before last man Melvyn Betts was dismissed by Jimmy Ormond for 47. Betts and Mohamed Sheikh had put on 66 for the final wicket.

Surrey, odds-on to regain the title they won in 1999 and 2000, still managed to pick up maximum bowling points.
