Coulthard has point to prove

13 April 2012

David Coulthard hopes to prove McLaren team chief Ron Dennis wrong at the Austrian Grand Prix at Zeltweg on Sunday.

Despite finishing among the points in all five races this year, Coulthard was accused of "brain fade" by Dennis after he was left at the start in Barcelona.

The Scot eventually charged through the field to finish fifth and Dennis had to backtrack when it was revealed the car's new launch control system had been the cause of the stalled start.

Coulthard now trails Ferrari's Michael Schumacher by eight points in the championship but said: "I have finished in the top six in every race this season and I intend to continue this consistency at the A1-Ring.

"We proved in Barcelona that the car is quick."
