Conor McGregor has claimed that his eagerly anticipated UFC trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier will no longer take place.

However, the pair have since become embroiled in a social media row over McGregor’s pledge to donate $500,000 to ‘The Diamond’s’ Good Fight Foundation.

Things appeared to escalate on Monday night, with McGregor firing out an expletive-laden tweet in which he insisted that he will now look for an alternative summer opponent.

“The fight is off btw,” he said. “I’m going to fight someone else on the 10th. Good luck on your old contract kid.”

McGregor’s second fight against Poirier was only his fourth in the UFC since November 2016, coming a year after his 40-second blitz of Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

The Dubliner rued his inactivity after falling to a fifth MMA career loss in January and vowed a swift return to the octagon.
