Cole's future clouded

13 April 2012

Charlton are still in the dark over Carlton Cole's future at The Valley.

Manager Alan Curbishley's return from his summer holiday was greeted by reports suggesting the England Under-21 striker wanted to cut short his loan and return to Chelsea.

Cole has a year left to run on the extended loan deal agreed as part of Scott Parker's transfer to Stamford Bridge but Curbishley admits the player's desire to move could end his Charlton career.

"It's all a bit clouded at the moment. He's been away on holiday so I haven't had a chance to speak to him yet. But Carlton is contracted to us until the end of next season," he said today.

Cole scored four goals in 21 Premiership appearances for Charlton last season.
