Coleman set to sign new deal

Chris Coleman will today re-open talks on extending his contract at Fulham.

The 33-year-old has only been on a one-year rolling deal since since taking over as manager from Jean Tigana at the end of last season.

But he is now keen to commit his future to the club and has indicated he will sign a long-term deal when he sits down with chairman Mohamed Fayed this week.

Coleman revealed last month that he had begun contract talks but they were put on hold during his recent spell in hospital with septicaemia. "It might be either a rolling or long-term contract," said Coleman, who will visit his surgeon today for a check-up on his recovery.

"The chairman is pleased with me when we're winning but there are no favours and I need to keep producing.

"We've come a long way this season and we are much stronger as a team than in the last few years. We're very serious about going forward at this club. I intend to be a part of that."

And the Fulham manager admitted his priority this summer will be to sign a striker with Kaiserslautern's Miroslav Klose one of his targets.

On Saturday, Fulham beat Leeds 2-0 with second-half goals from Sean Davis and Luis Boa Morte.
