Cole fired up for Fulham

Andy Cole wants to forget about his miserable two-and-a-half year spell at Blackburn by firing Fulham into Europe.

The former England striker struggled to justify his £8million fee at Ewood Park and also fell out with manager Graeme Souness.

Cole became Chris Coleman's first summer signing at Craven Cottage earlier this week but the row with Souness continued with the Scot labelling him a "baby".

The 32-year-old said: "It is definitely a new start for me. I've been in the game a long time and I wanted a clean slate.

"When I spoke to Chris Coleman, I said to him that people are always going to perceive me in the wrong way and say I'm this and I'm that. But once you get to know me I'm totally the opposite."

Cole is expected to make his debut in tomorrow's friendly with Rangers at Craven Cottage and has high hopes for his new club.

He said: "I would love to help Fulham kick on to a European place. I had a difficult two years at Blackburn but as a result of that I've got a lot of desire. There's a lot of fire in my stomach."

Cole is starting his second spell at the club after joining on loan from Arsenal in 1991 when Fulham were in Division Three.

Meanwhile, Everton striker Tomasz Radzinski is expected to finally sign for Fulham in a £1.75m deal.
