Cole and Ferdinand miss training

12 April 2012

England defenders Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole missed training on Monday as a precaution ahead of the trip to Kazakhstan for their World Cup qualifier.

Chelsea left-back Cole took a kick during the FA Cup final win at Wembley over Everton, while Ferdinand rested a problem he had before Manchester United's Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.

They are both expected to train either on Tuesday or later in the week in preparation for the trip to Almaty, then the Wembley encounter with Andorra.

England boss Fabio Capello had all his other squad members training at Arsenal facilities at London Colney, with James Milner joining the squad to replace United midfielder Michael Carrick.

Gary Neville, who has been recalled to the squad, was first off the team coach along with close friend David Beckham.

Beckham, Frank Lampard, skipper John Terry and Joleon Lescott, who all played at the weekend, separated from the rest to the group to do running exercises on their own.
