Clarke is awe of 'freakish' Hussey

Michael Clarke hailed a "freakish" performance from an "unbelievable" cricketer, after Michael Hussey muscled Australia past Pakistan into a World Twenty20 final against England.

Hussey (60no) hit three sixes and a four from successive Saeed Ajmal deliveries at Beausejour Stadium to get Australia home from what had seemed a near hopeless position. He made a mockery of the 18 runs needed from the final over, to pass a target of 191 for six with a ball to spare, having dominated a half-century stand with Mitchell Johnson for the eighth wicket.

"I can believe it because of the guy sitting beside me," said Clarke, in a joint press conference with Hussey. "He and Cameron White had an amazing day."

He added: "I honestly felt Pakistan scored 15 runs too many. But you just can't write us off, with the class and experience we have in the team.

"This was just a freakish performance from an unbelievable cricketer.

"When we lost a few wickets, it was always going to be hard to chase that total.

"Then I just couldn't watch the last over after Mitchell got a single."

Hussey began his innings trying to give the strike to White, but finished it in an astounding blaze of big-hitting glory.

He said: "I think that's probably best feeling I have ever had on cricket field.

"Particularly in such a big game when I was having so many doubts, I had feeling it wasn't going to be our day - when balls kept lobbing over us in field."
