Chelsea's Petr Cech tweets praise for Manchester United counterpart David De Gea

Petr Cech has praised fellow goalkeeper David De Gea after the Spaniard put in one of the best performances of his Manchester United career against Everton.

De Gea, 23, saved Leighton Baines’ first half-penalty before pulling off a string of astonishing saves to secure a 2-1 win for Louis Van Gaal’s men.

The performance earned De Gea plaudits from his manager and the pundits, with Van Gaal saying after the match: “David De Gea was fantastic today.

“He was the difference; we owe him.”

His performance also appears to have caught the eye of his Chelsea counterpart, Petr Cech.

Cech, who kept a clean sheet after coming on against Arsenal at the weekend, tweeted praise of De Gea’s last-minute save from Bryan Oviedo’s fierce shot.

Alongside a time-lapse photo of the save, Cech wrote: “Some people will still say that the keepers shouldn't use the opposite hand :-) what about this ...”
