Chelsea to sell Dalla Bona

13 April 2012

Chelsea midfielder Sam Dalla Bona has been placed on the transfer list after the 21-year-old Italian refused to sign an extension to his contract, which has one year left to run.

Dalla Bona signed for Chelsea in 1998 on a free from Atalanta and has since appeared 73 times.

He is now keen to go home, but the club is unimpressed with his stance after he rejected a move to Venezia last year.

Chelsea say they will accept cash-only offers and will force him to see out his contract in the reserves if the right deal does not come along.

A club statement said: "Sam Dalla Bona has played his last game for Chelsea. One Italian club is interested, but they are trying to off-load an over-aged, over-paid player in part exchange. We are not interested."
