Chadwick agrees Hammers switch

West Ham have signed midfielder Luke Chadwick from Manchester United on a free transfer.

Chadwick, 23, was undergoing a medical today and has agreed a one-year deal with the Upton Park club.

Signed as a trainee in 1999 by United, Chadwick (right) failed to become a first-team regular. The player, who won 12 caps at England Under-21 level, first came to the attention of West Ham manager Alan Pardew when he took him on loan at his previous club Reading and the midfielder has since been on loan at Burnley.

West Ham, who start their league season at Leicester on Saturday, fought out a 4-4 draw against Anderlecht on Saturday only to lose 5-4 on penalties to the Belgian side.
