Celtic set to land Barca star Crosas at knockdown price but end bid for Tamas

were last night poised to conclude a knockdown £600,000 deal for Barcelona midfielder Marc Crosas.



In return for letting the unsettled Crosas move to Scotland, however, Barca have insisted upon a 25-per-cent sell-on clause.

And coach Pep Guardiola has also requested a first option buy-back clause allowing them to re-sign Crosas, 20, for £1.5million at the end of next season.

Despite rival interest from Sevilla, the Barcelona website reported that Celtic have secured an agreement well below the original £2m quoted.

Meanwhile, Celtic last night officially closed the door on their protracted move to sign Romania defender Gabriel Tamas.

They will now redouble their efforts to land a new central defender, but reports from France yesterday claiming Le Mans centre-back Marko Basa was on the verge of joining the SPL champions are believed to be wide of the mark.
