Celtic defender Kennedy joins Championship side Norwich on loan

13 April 2012

Celtic defender John Kennedy has agreed to join Norwich on loan until January.

The 24-year-old had been keen on a temporary move to Motherwell, who he joined
on their training camp in Austria, but the Fir Park club could not match Celtic's financial demands.

Preston were also interested but Kennedy has agreed a move to Coca-Cola Championship rivals Norwich, where he will be reunited with former Celtic team-mates Mark Fotheringham and David Marshall.

John Kennedy will kick off the new season with Norwich

Kennedy said: 'I'm looking forward to the challenge of being at Norwich and lining up with a couple of familiar faces in David Marshall and Mark Fotheringham.

'I would like to thank Motherwell and Preston and their managers, Mark McGhee and Alan Irvine, who have shown interest in me.'

Kennedy is looking for games following an eight-month lay-off with a knee
injury.

That came after a three-year spell on the sidelines after the centre-back's
knee was seriously damaged on his Scotland debut by Romania striker Vio Ganea.
