Button: I'm back

14 April 2012

Jenson Button claims his season is back on track after ending a nightmare run with fourth place in the German Grand Prix.

The 26-year-old failed to score points for five straight races before roaring back to form at Hockenheim, where he only just missed out on a podium.

"This is a big turning point for us," said the Honda driver. "To race with the guys at the front is a big difference to where we have been. It is not a one-off, we have made some steps forward."

He battled with two of the sport's finest drivers on his way to five points, easily beating world champion Fernando Alonso and overtaking Kimi Raikkonen before the Finn hit back late in the race.

Button feels he proved a point by dicing with the best in the business, although Michael Schumacher was well down the road on his way to a third consecutive win.

"People always say the three best drivers in the world are Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso - well I did two of them," he added.

"You need the car to mix it with the best and that's what we achieved."
