Burton will stay at Dons

Wimbledon chairman Charles Koppel yesterday persuaded manager Terry Burton to stay at the club.

Burton shocked Dons by revealing after Wednesday's 3-3 draw with Portsmouth that he was considering leaving and claiming: 'The atmosphere at the club stinks.'

His complaints followed the turmoil caused by the dispute between the fans and Koppel over the proposed move to Milton Keynes.

However, Koppel said after an emergency meeting yesterday that Burton would be staying.

He added: 'Terry has the respect of everyone at the club. It is now up to the fans to give him their support.'
