Bruce gets tough with Fan

13 April 2012

Crystal Palace manager Steve Bruce has threatened to report Chinese international Fan Zhiyi to the football authorities. Bruce is furious the 31-year-old is set to miss part of the season with China just weeks after agreeing an improved contract on the condition he gives up his international commitments.

He is set for showdown talks after threatening not to pay Fan's wages while he is away, and could even place him on the transfer list.

Bruce said: "However good a player Fan is, it's not right we should be paying him when he's gone for three and a half months.

"I'm going to the FA and the PFA about it because I will have to look to replace him.?

Bruce is still hoping to complete the £1m signing of Middlesbrough forward Andy Campbell, who failed a medical last week.
