Broncos crush Salford

13 April 2012

London Broncos, stung by the cloud hanging over their future, scored their first win over Salford since Martin Offiah left at the end of 1999 to join the Reds.

New Zealand star Ritchie Barnett led the way with three of the eight tries while Tony Martin chipped in with a touchdown and nine goals as Broncos claimed a 50-12 win at The Willows.

But that kind of form from Tony Rea's men came too late to get them into the top five - and today the waiting game goes on as the Super League clubs meet in Huddersfield to discuss, among other things, Leigh's bid to take over the London franchise.

Super League and the Rugby Football League both want the club to remain in London but Charlton Football Club, the Broncos' landlords, hold the key to that.

It may be that London have to wait until the Rugby Football League Council meeting on 3 October before their fate is known.
