British tennis star falls for German ace

Britain's latest Wimbledon hope Andrew Murray has fallen for a young German tennis prospect he met in Barcelona.

The Scottish star, who is hoping to become Britain's number one, is believed to have found romance with Tatjana Priachin, 17, whom he met during winter-time training.

Before Wimbledon, both were largely unknown on the circuit, although Murray's firstround victory against George Bastl has put him under the spotlight.

His girlfriend, however, is not even listed with the official Women's Tennis Association but she has won several lowkey tournaments and has her own website.

She has set her sights on becoming a tennis heroine just like her idol Steffi Graf and is pictured alongside her on the website.

She lives in Mannheim, Germany, and Barcelona and speaks German, English, Spanish and Russian.

Murray, 18, who was ranked 312 before Wimbledon, returns to play tomorrow against 14th seed Radek Stepanek. Tim Henman said: "He has got some genuine quality. I think he's got a big future."

Murray's girlfriend, who has not travelled to the All England Club, has won the approval of his mother Julie.

A friend said of the pair: "They get on very well and look really good together. It's early days but who knows? One day they could be the new Steffi Graff and Andre Agassirelationship of the tennis world."

Tatjana lists among her hobbies watching him indulging in his other passion, golf.
