Brighton College have been awarded the Evening Standard 1st XV Team of the Month award for January/February, having remained undefeated since Christmas.

In January they travelled to Essex giants Campion where they registered a monumental 45-6 win. A 24-24 draw at Wimbledon College was amended with a brilliant 34-15 home defeat of Whitgift in February.

Last Sunday Brighton entered the prestigious Sussex sevens, where they defeated Tonbridge, Reigate GS and Canford School in the group stages before beating Epsom College in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately they met an inspired Cranleigh in the semi-finals, who edged them 24-17 in a thrilling contest.

Brighton College, who produced Harlequins and Saxons star Jordan Turner-Hall, boast an array of Sussex county and Quins development players. They are captained by England U18 utility back Ross Chisholm, who this season broke the College record for points in a game with 38 against Portsmouth GS.

Elsewhere John Fisher have also had an undefeated post-Christmas period, including wins over Hampton, 37-5 and Tiffin, 41-6. In the round six of the cup they thrashed Worthing College 33-7, before beating Moulton College 18-15 to set up a semi-final against Truro College, which takes place on March 14th. The winners of the match, hosted at Broadstreet RFC near Coventry, will face either St.Peter's York or St.Peter's Gloucester in the Twickenham final.

Win or lose, John Fisher are strong contenders for next month's Evening Standard Team of the Year award. Last year's winners, St.Benedicts, have performed well since Christmas. They secured an impressive 20-16 victory over Whitgift in round six of the cup, beat Emanuel 40-5 in a friendly, before narrowly losing out 18-14 to St.Peter's, York in the quarter-final stage.
