Brentford crash out

Martin Allen fielded a virtual reserve team as Brentford were dumped out of the LDV Vans Trophy when losing 3-0 at home to Milton Kenyes Dons last night.

The Bees manager made 10 changes from the starting line-up against Walsall and his fringe players clearly struggled.

Gary Smith's low drive put the Dons ahead in the sixth minute and it was 3-0 by half-time thanks to goals from Dean Lewington and Wade Small.

With youngsters Jamie Palmer and Sean Hillier making their debuts and new signing Jamie Lawrence making his first start, the Bees improved in the second half but failed to take their chances.
