Brazil striker Ronaldo carried off the pitch in tears after fresh injury heartbreak

Brazil striker Ronaldo's career could be over after he ruptured knee ligaments on his AC Milan return against Livorno.

The 31-year-old was carried off the pitch crying just three minutes after coming on as a substitute in the Serie A clash at the San Siro.

"We are all very upset and worried about what happened to Ronaldo. For our part we can only be there for him and stay calm," coach Carlo Ancelotti told the club's website, acmilan.com.

"I don't think I can say that his career is over because only time can tell when his career will end."

Andrea Pirlo's penalty salvaged a point for the hosts after Nico Pulzetti had given Livorno a surprise lead early in the second half.
