Golden chance: Canoeist Tim Brabants
13 April 2012

British canoeist Tim Brabants secured his place in a second Olympic final by finishing third in his K1 500m semi-final today.

The 31-year-old from Surrey, who reached the men's K1 1000m final on Monday, crossed the line behind New Zealand's Steven Ferguson and Anders Gustafsson, of Sweden.

"This has been a very successful bit of water for us over the last two weeks. It's time for me to do my part," said Brabants. "The 1000m is my preferred event."

Lucy Wainwright also made it into the women's K1 500m final, which takes place on Saturday.
